Education

A big role Casa Hogar plays in the fight against HIV/AIDS is the elimination of discrimination of those suffering from the virus. As well as to stop the spread of the HIV virus.  We have a dedicated education team who visit local communities, workplaces, colleges and schools giving advice about HIV/AIDS.

The Program has several parts including information on:

The Virus itself:
* What a virus is
* The origins of HIV
* The Stages of Development of HIV
* Treatment of HIV

Stigma And Discrimination
* How the Virus can be caught
* How the Virus cannot be caught

How not to catch HIV:
* Teaching abstinence is the best option

As well as these topics there is drama explaining the HIV virus as well as Videos and other Multimedia elements.

We believe that through education we really can make a difference and the program has already proven a worthy outreach aiding not just those with HIV but preventing the spread of HIV and recently also attending to some sufferers of sexual abuse who after witnessing the education program felt able to get in contact and seek help.

We are working closely in partnership with Samaritan’s Purse for this project and they have kindly aided us with many materials as well as a lot of knowledge in the fields of HIV Education above is the power point used by our good friend Dra. Lul from Samaritan’s Purse which will give you a rough idea of  the education program though unfortunately this is currently only available in Spanish but still contains some good diagrams and images
