Self Help Groups
(Grupos de Auto Apoyo)

Another part of Casa Hogar’s Outreach are two self help groups the first named ‘Genesis’ and the second named ‘Immanuel’ both groups were formed to help those infected or affected by HIV/AIDS to support each other. However unlike other local groups our groups have a god focused approach with the aim that God is in the centre with several of the members now being fed into church growth groups. The groups enable those suffering and affected by HIV/AIDS to talk openly and helps them begin the healing process after discovering they HIV and allows for them to create a good basis of friendship and support.

The King’s Kids
(Los Niños del Rey)

After beginning the Self Help Groups we realized that there was a fantastic opportunity to build into the lives of children of those adults who attend the Self Help Groups. We began The King’s Kids (Los Niños del Rey) for those children. The King’s Kids meet at the same time as Genesis and Immanuel, and about 10-15 children attend each meeting. The childrens’ groups provide an opportunity for the kids to come to know Christ, receive Biblical teaching, learn about healthy habits, and have a great time. We also want to educate the children about HIV/AIDS: how it effects them, how to handle it, how it is contracted, they are not alone, and (through biblical teaching) that abstinence is the only way to prevent yourself 100% from being infected with HIV.
